Housekeeping
Housekeeping uniform manufacturer in India: a facility buyer's guide
Housekeeping uniforms take more abuse than any other category. Daily laundering at 60-90°C, chemical exposure, long shifts, repetitive motion. The cheapest uniform fails in three months. The right one lasts a year.
This guide is for hotel GMs, housekeeping managers, and facility operators selecting a bulk uniform supplier.
The housekeeping uniform problem
Housekeeping is the largest uniform category in most hotels. A 100-room hotel with 30 rooms cleaned daily needs 30-40 housekeeping staff. A chain of 8 properties needs 250+. The volume is real, but the failure modes are different from other categories:
- Daily laundering at high temperatures
- Chemical exposure (cleaning agents, bleach)
- Visible to guests at all times
- High turnover (15-25% annually in India)
- Brand consistency matters across properties
A uniform supplier that solves these for hotels is a different supplier than one that solves, say, lab coats.
What hotels should look for
After 20+ years of housekeeping supply, here is what actually matters:
- Fabric that survives 60-90°C wash cycles. Polyester-cotton 65/35 at 160-180 GSM is the standard. 100% cotton feels better but degrades faster. Test for shrinkage below 3% and colour fastness at 4+ on the grey scale.
- Reinforced stitching at stress points. Bartack at pocket corners, double-needle on all seams, button quality that survives 200+ wash cycles. These details cost slightly more per piece but double the uniform’s life.
- Brand consistency across properties. A chain with 8 properties needs the same colour, same stitching, same fabric lot. The supplier should keep a master sample and match against it for every order.
- Fast replacement for high-turnover roles. Housekeeping has 15-25% annual turnover. A supplier with a 5-day replacement cycle saves the property manager from chasing vendors.
- PMS colour matching. Hotel brands have specific Pantone colours. The supplier should match against PMS, not “navy blue” or “burgundy”.
Pricing breakdown
Housekeeping uniforms in India typically fall in three tiers:
| Tier | Per-piece range | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | ₹350-500 | Basic poly-cotton, no stitching reinforcement, shorter lifespan |
| Mid-range | ₹500-800 | Quality fabric, reinforced stitching, 12-18 month lifespan |
| Premium | ₹800-1,400 | Premium fabric, embroidery, custom dye, full customization |
For institutional buyers, the mid-range is the sweet spot. Budget uniforms fail in 3-6 months; premium is for hotels with strong branding needs.
Multi-property rollouts
A chain rollout is the most complex version of a housekeeping order. The key questions:
- What is the rollout timeline? — Staggered delivery (one property per week) or all properties at once?
- How do you handle size distribution across properties? — Each property has different staff sizes. The supplier should plan accordingly.
- What is the brand consistency deliverable? — Same Pantone, same fabric, same stitching. Test the first delivery against the master sample before continuing.
- What is the replacement cycle? — Quarterly refresh for high-turnover roles, half-yearly for established staff.

Common questions
Can you supply 1,000+ uniforms in 4 weeks? Yes — for orders above 500 pieces, we typically have a 4-week production cycle. Sample and approval takes another week.
Do you supply aprons, scarves, and name tags? Yes. Aprons, scarves, name tags, badges, and belts are all in-house.
What about size distribution? Send us your class-wise or role-wise count. We plan the size run accordingly.
Can you match our existing uniforms? Send us a sample. We reverse-engineer the fabric, stitching, and Pantone to match.
