School uniform manufacturer in India: a buyer's guide for 2026

Finding the right bulk school uniform supplier in Bangalore is the difference between a smooth academic year and a parent WhatsApp group that never stops buzzing. Most schools treat uniform procurement as a one-off event; the institutions that do it well run it as a programme.

This guide is for principals, school admins, and procurement officers who are about to place a bulk order — or who are tired of how their current vendor handles it.

What “bulk” actually means in school uniforms

For most schools, “bulk” starts at 50 pieces and goes up to several thousand. The smaller end is a coaching institute ordering 50 shirts for a new batch. The larger end is a CBSE school ordering 1,500 full uniforms for the academic year — shirts, pants, skirts, ties, belts, and house T-shirts.

The right supplier treats both ends the same way: a single procurement contact, fabric and size samples, a per-piece price, and a delivery date that does not slip.

What schools should actually demand from a supplier

After 20+ years of bulk supply, here is the list that matters:

Update: Sri Ganesh Textiles has been supplying bulk uniforms for 20+ years now. The fundamentals below still apply.

  1. A single point of contact — not a sales rep who hands you off to a coordinator who hands you off to a delivery manager. One person, one phone number, one responsibility.
  2. Per-piece pricing in writing — not a quote that says “depends on quantity”. Locked-in per-piece pricing for the entire order.
  3. Sample before bulk production — fabric swatch, stitched sample, fitting approval. Production begins only after sign-off.
  4. Size distribution that matches your students — the supplier should ask for your class-wise count, not just a total number.
  5. Delivery window in writing — not “around June”. A specific date range, with a clear late-delivery policy.
  6. One invoice for the entire order — not separate invoices for shirts, pants, ties. Procurement teams run on consolidated invoicing.

Pricing: what drives it

Per-piece cost is driven by three things:

  • Fabric and GSM. Cotton-poly blends dominate school uniforms. A 160 GSM shirt is heavier and more durable than a 140 GSM; the price difference is small but the quality difference is real. For pants, look at twill (160-180 GSM) rather than flat cotton.
  • Stitching quality. Single-needle stitching vs double-needle, bartack reinforcements at stress points, button quality, zip quality. These are the differences between a uniform that lasts one year and one that lasts two.
  • Order size. A 500-piece order is cheaper per piece than a 100-piece order. A 1,500-piece order is cheaper still. This is the bulk economics that makes a single-vendor strategy worth it.

Common mistakes schools make

  • Ordering late. Academic year starts in June. Most production slots fill up by March. Schools that order in May pay rush charges.
  • Specifying by general description, not measurement. “Standard school shirt” is not a spec. Length, chest, shoulder, sleeve — these numbers matter.
  • Treating the supplier as a vendor, not a partner. The supplier that knows your school, your history, and your requirements will solve problems faster than a new vendor every year.
  • Buying shoes and uniforms separately. A bulk uniform programme that includes school shoes gets you better per-piece pricing and one delivery.

When to order for the 2026-27 academic year

Indian academic year starts in June. Most reputable bulk suppliers have a 6-8 week production cycle. To avoid rush charges, lock in your order by March or April. Earlier is better — the best fabric and stitching slots go early.

If you are ordering for the second half of the session (October to March), lead times are shorter, but you may pay a small premium.

What we do differently

We are a B2B bulk supplier, working from 50 pieces per order upwards. That is where our pricing and lead times work in a school’s favour.

For schools, that means:

  • One account manager for your entire school year.
  • Sample and approval before production.
  • Per-piece pricing in writing.
  • Pan-India delivery for orders above 500 pieces.

If you are a principal, admin, or procurement officer ready to start a bulk order, the form below reaches our sales team directly. Or call us at the number at the top of the page.
