Agarson safety shoes: the PVC and gumboot end, and the published prices

Agarson is worth a separate look for two reasons that have nothing to do with leather safety shoes, which is where most brand comparisons start and stop.

Agarson Shoes Private Limited manufactures from Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district, Haryana, and describes itself as 36 years in safety footwear, which puts the start around 1990. Bahadurgarh matters here: it is one of India’s established footwear manufacturing clusters, sitting on the Delhi border.

Reason one: the range runs to PVC and gumboots

Most safety footwear shortlists are a leather or PU conversation. Agarson’s published range covers four categories: safety shoes, PVC footwear, PU footwear and gumboots.

That is the useful part. If your floor is wet, you are not buying a leather safety shoe, and a lot of buyers discover this after issuing one.

Dairy, food processing, chemical handling, effluent treatment, municipal work, monsoon-season civil sites and anything that gets hosed down at shift end all need a moulded PVC boot or a gumboot, not a stitched leather upper. Leather on a permanently wet floor delaminates, holds water, and stops being PPE somewhere around month four.

Single-density PVC is the cheap end and it is genuinely adequate for intermittent wet work. Where the floor is wet all shift, ask about density and sole pattern rather than price, because the failure mode there is a slip, not wear.

Reason two: a women’s line that is actually catalogued

Agarson lists women’s safety footwear as its own line rather than as “small sizes of the men’s article”.

This is rarer than it should be, and if you run a mixed workforce you already know why it matters. Issuing a size 5 men’s last to a woman produces a shoe that technically fits the length and not the width or the instep, which produces a shoe that gets left in the locker, which produces a compliance gap that shows up in an audit rather than in the order.

If your plant has women on the floor, in the packing hall, in housekeeping or in the canteen, put the women’s line on the enquiry explicitly. Do not let it default.

On the price list, which for once exists

Agarson is unusual. It sells direct online with prices published, so unlike almost every other brand on your shortlist, there genuinely is a list.

At the time of writing, the published retail prices run from roughly ₹405 for a gumboot to about ₹1,477 for the top listed safety shoe, with several named articles between: Blaze, Hyryder, Nikko, Power, and a women’s PVC line around ₹715.

Here is the part that matters, and it is the same answer as every other brand even though the list exists.

That is retail, and it is not your price. It is one pair, one size, shipped to one address, with no certificate pack, no size drive and no contract. A 300-pair issue against a named article with IS 15298 documentation, on-site measurement and a rate held for the contract year is a different transaction that happens to involve the same shoe.

What the published list is genuinely good for is an anchor. It tells you the tier honestly, which most brands will not, and it means nobody can quote you a “bulk price” above retail and call it a discount. Take the list as a ceiling, not a quote.

What to specify regardless

The brand is the least important line on your purchase order. Specify:

• The article number, not the brand name. “Agarson safety shoes” is not a specification.
• Toe cap. Steel is cheaper and heavier and sets off metal detectors. Composite is lighter and non-conductive. Soft toe is for service roles, not the shop floor.
• Sole and process. PU, dual-density PU, rubber or moulded PVC. Match it to the floor, including what gets spilled on it.
• IS 15298 Part 2 certificate against that exact article. A brand-level claim is not a certificate. Ask for the document that names your article number.

That last point applies to every brand and it is where most bulk orders are actually exposed. We did not find a published article-level certification claim on Agarson’s own site, so treat the certificate as something to collect at quotation, not something to assume.

Sizing

PVC and gumboots size differently to leather safety shoes, and buyers who run both often discover this by issuing the same size file against both.

Moulded footwear has no break-in and less forgiveness across width. If your issue mixes leather shoes for the shop floor with gumboots for the wash bay, measure for both rather than mapping one onto the other.
